Thai Foot & Leg Massage - Reflexology

Thai foot massage is the application of pressure onto particular areas of the soles of the feet. A reflex action in another part of the body is stimulated by the manipulation of each specific area. Foot reflexology massage uses hands, fingers, thumbs, knuckles, and a rounded wooden stick with lotion or oil.

Reflexology foot massage as practiced in Thailand is an ancient therapeutic procedure that has become popular today.  Originally, the knowledge and techniques were closely held secrets kept alive and passed down through generations by the Buddhist monks of the Thai Royal Palace.  Thai foot reflexology is a combination of the ancient healing arts of Reflexology, Chinese Tuina, Japanese Shiatsu and Indian Ayurvedi yoga. Working with the feet, lower legs and knees, this 2000-year-old, highly reputed massage frees up blocked energy within the body's many sens lines (Thai-based meridians) to produce a deep and unique feeling of balance, relaxation and well-being.

The Wat Pho Thai Traditional Massage School in Bangkok adjacent to the Royal Palace is today the center of massage training and study in Thailand.

According to acupuncture and acupressure theory, there are 7200 nerve endings in each foot connected to the internal organs that spread throughout the body.  Consequently, the massage is effective in stimulating the functions of the internal organs.  It is without side effects, and it isn't harmful to health.

Reflexology is NOT RECOMMENDED if the following exist: severe heart or serious health problems, pregnancy, menstruation, high fever, contagious diseases or sores, broken feet or leg bones, or with a full stomach.

Thai Hand Reflexology Massage

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the hand can be used to diagnose diseases, because pathological information is reflected on the hand. This method can also be used to prevent and treat disease, improve life quality, and maintain health by applying various types of stimulation to specific areas of the hand. The hand as a part of the body has a close relationship with the body's internal organs. Hand therapy is simple, safe and reliable for obtaining good therapeutic effects for a wide variety of diseases.

The applications of Hand Reflexology range from relaxation and stress reduction, through improved circulation and nerve supply, to the treating of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. Hand Reflexology is a powerful form of therapy that readily and easily combines with other natural therapies, either as an adjunct or as the primary modality. Its scope and range of uses are limitless.

Head Massage

Head massage can help relieve tension headaches. When performing a scalp massage on someone with a tension headache, we spend extra time on the base of the skull, near the hairline, because tension often accumulates in this area. We also include a massage of the forehead and temples, when massaging to relieve a tension headache. A scalp massage can also help relieve symptoms of migraine headaches in some individuals.

Thai Traditional Massage

Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing system that combines broad and targeted acupressure, stimulation and manipulation of energy lines called sen, and assisted yoga postures. Treatment effects are enhanced when the patient is fully relaxed and breathing deeply. This traditional healing practice, called nuad or nuad boran in the Thai language, stands in sharp contrast to western massage therapies.

Traditional Thai massage is kind of dry massage, and the recipient remains clothed during a treatment. There is constant body contact between the practitioner and client, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension. The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a dance of movement on the body of the recipient. In this process, joints are opened, muscles and tendons are stretched, internal organs are toned, and energy is balanced. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being. Thai massage can be both relaxing and energizing, so it is a good choice if you want to be active after your massage.
